My biggest commission yet

What have I finished this Month?

I finished it! The biggest canvas I’ve ever done. 72 inches long and 48 inches high, which is about 180cm by 120cm if that helps. It didn’t take as long as I thought - about 20 hours is a low estimate, but I thought it would take longer to be honest. I’m less afraid of big canvases now. I’ve bought another big one (not as big) - 30 by 36 inches. I’m thinking I’ll do some whales!. A humpback albino whale calf (like Migaloo) - who’s been spotted swimming around with her mum. Before I move onto that big one, I feel I need to do something colourful! The huge Green Sea Turtle (shown on my website front page) was all greens and blues and while I love those colours, I’m keen so some red and pinks. So I’ve started a sunrise at Sandy Beach. A small ish sized canvas which I’ve locked in the colours for and I am quite excited about. I’ll put it up on the website when its done.

Sawtell Gallery

I have three pieces up in Sawtell Gallery at Lyons Rd & Bayldon Rd, 1 Bayldon Rd, Sawtell NSW 2452. I didn’t win any awards and to be honest, I think that my art doesn’t look quite as good as majority of the others there, but, its been a good learning experience. My art will be up until the beginning of August so make sure to pop in and have a wonder around. Also, everything is for sale!

Upcoming New Zealand Trip

Its only about a month until we head off to NZ for a couple of weeks on a camping road trip. We’re doing both islands and I’m very excited to start my NZ art journal!. I have bought the painting journal and can’t wait to start filling it. I also plan on taking some beautiful photos to turn into big canvas paintings of the magical NZ landscapes. If you’re interested in some original NZ art, watch this space in the next two months. Maybe I’ll do an NZ series? Either way, there will be some very inspired art ready to Christmas presents this year.

Business things

My Redbubble merch is very exciting - head to the home page for the link . I’ve ordered and been wearing an art by breige shirt with the whale and shark on them, and a bucket hat! The bucket hat is my favourite. Only thing I dont love it that there’s only one size. The quality is passable but I may change from redbubble in the future. Also my designs could use some tweeking but its not on my radar yet as important. As always Im still figuring out what I want to put my energy and focus into and Im leaning more towards original canvas paintings and commissions. I always want to paint some many things, and I think using my sketchbooks for watercolours and practice and play, and then consistently doing big canvases might be what Im most called to at this time of my small business.

Thats about it for me. If you’ve read this, thank you, your attention means the world. Feel free to reach out for topics of interest, or simply watch this space.

Chiow,

b.
