We made it to New Zealand this year! My blog is all about it. One of our stops was Arrowtown, near Queenstown on the South Island. Arrowtown is a beautiful historic gold mining town. Definitely visit if you go to New Zealand.
The main street of Arrowtown was packed when we were there - which was off peak season!. The lovely tiny shops were full of tourists, which isn’t out vibe. We snuck off the main street and found a quiet backstreet which was virtually deserted. We found this much more enjoyable, walking through the back street behind the restaurants and shops.
This painting is based on a photo of this street. Ive cut the cars out of if because I wanted it simple and historic like the town.
