“Rise from the Deep” is a meditation on whales—and on ourselves.
To me, whales are among the last truly magical beings still sharing our world. They exist in a space that feels almost mythical, like dragons or dinosaurs, yet they are undeniably real. In an age where so many large creatures have vanished—or are vanishing—their presence feels rare, fragile, and precious. That we still have them is no small miracle, made possible by the quiet dedication of a few determined humans.
In this work, the whales rise from the deep as a symbol of emergence: from darkness, despair, extinction, or uncertainty. They embody the moment of breaking the surface—taking a breath, catching the light, glimpsing the vastness of the cosmos.
In that sense, the whales are us. They reflect our own longing to rise out of heavy states of mind, to step beyond depression, monotony, or mental fog, and to remember our place in something much larger.
For the collector, Rise from the Deep becomes a quiet reminder—something to live with—of resilience, wonder, and perspective. It is an image that holds space for both fragility and strength, inviting moments of pause, reflection, and renewal. Over time, it offers not just beauty, but a sense of connection: to the natural world, to the cosmos, and to the deeper currents within ourselves.
